چکیده
The potential of irrigation reservoirs in northern Ghana to support Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) production 1 m3 budget cages was assessed over six-months three (Bontanga, Golinga and Libga). Fingerlings with a mean weight 17.0 ± 5.0 g were randomly stocked at 50, 100, 150, 200 250 fish per cage duplicate fed commercial tilapia feed (Raanan, 30% protein level) 3 5% body weight. results indicated that the lower densities (50 100 m-3) had higher specific growth rate (SGR) compared (150-250 m-3). gross yield (7.5–23.1 kg cage-1) differed increasing density on all reservoirs. Consumers Tamale Metropolis preferred small sized tilapias (5-6 kg-1) willing pay US$ 1.40-2.34 kg-1 fish, while restaurants 2-3 3.27- 3.51 kg-1. m-3 stocking most profitable is recommended for culture Ghana. For this study, we performed a parasitological analysis of cage-cultured Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) from the Água Vermelha Reservoir, Southeastern Brazil, and verified relationships with limnological data, seasonality, and fish growth phase. From March 2010 to March 2011, sixty-three specimens of O. niloticus in three growth phases (i.e., initial, intermediate, and final) were collect...

To investigate the potential of extensive net cage culture for Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fingerlings, an experiment was conducted in net cages suspended in a fertilized pond. Mixed-sex population of Nile tilapia with an average initial body weight of 0.065 g was used to stock in experimental cages. Four treatments; non added-substrate without supplemental feeding (NSNF), non added-su...
